Abby Stricker represented Columbia College this afternoon at the 36
th annual NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships held at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala. Stricker is the lone Cougar competing at the championships.
Abby, a native of Labadie, Mo., finished as the National Runner-Up in the long jump in a field of 33 jumpers with a leap of 5.65 meters. Stricker qualified for the event finals and was just seven centimeters out of first place. In the finals, after faulting on her first two jumps, Abby had just one shot to place and she made it count, edging the third place finisher by 0.01 meters to take second.
Sophomore Jonna Brinson from the University of Mobile won the event with a mark of 5.86 meters.

Stricker will have one more opportunity to compete at the National Championships when she takes part in the triple jump competition Friday, May 27
