Cougars Finish Fourth at Lions Classic

St. Charles, Mo. - Columbia College traveled to St. Charles Mo. to compete in the 11th annual Lindenwood University Lions Classic over the weekend. Both Cougar teams finished in fourth place in their respective divisions.

A slow Saturday morning didn't stop the Cougar Navy team as they totaled 2,414 pins during their team games and 3,441 during Baker play. With their 5,855 pin total after day one, Columbia was seeded seventh for the best of three match play on Sunday. The Cougar Navy fell to McKendree University in round one, but Columbia came back in fashion, shooting over 200 to defeat Culver-Stockton College in the second round. Round three was a hardnosed battle with Barton College, where Columbia forced a third game but fell, leaving them with a fourth place finish out of eight teams.

The Cougar Silver team matched the Cougar Navy with a fourth place finish after three rounds of match play. During match play the silver team was defeated by Midland University Junior Varsity 2 by scores of 322 to 284.  The Cougars came back in the second match against Midland Junior Varsity 1 and defeated the Warriors with a three game total of 530 for Columbia to 486 for Midland.
