Cougars Compete in Davenport

Davenport, Iowa - The Cougar bowling team traveled to Davenport, Iowa this past weekend to compete in the Leatherneck Classic bowling tournament.  The Navy and Silver teams finished 14th and eighth, respectively after the two day event.
 
The Navy team composed of Hailey Collins, Ashley Westbrook, Katie Leonard, Rachel Doran and Katyn Fischer competed in six regular games on Saturday against 33 other teams from across the country.  Through six games the group totaled 5,316 pins for an average of 886 per game, placing them in 14th place.  Rachel Doran had a team-high of 1,019 pins for an average of 169 through those six games. 
 
The Silver team competed against seven other teams and totaled 4,599 pins, placing them in eighth place for the first day.  Claire Sandstrom also totaled 1,019 pins over six games to lead Silver.
 
On day two, the teams competed in four, four-game Baker matches. The Navy team shot a 16 game total of 2,795 placing them in 17th place to finish out the tournament.  The Silver team shot a 16 game total of 2,400 placing them eighth for the tournament. 
 
This weekend the Cougars return to the alley as they travel to Hastings, Nebraska to compete in the Seventh Annual Bronco Open hosted by Hastings College.
