Topeka, Kan. - This weekend the Cougar bowling team traveled to Topeka, Kansas to compete in the Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge at West Ridge Lanes.  On Saturday the Navy and Silver teams competed against teams like Wichita State, Midland University, University of Central Missouri , Newman, Baker, West Texas A&M, Hastings, Ottawa, Morningside, College of St. Mary, Barton Community College, Culver-Stockton, Iowa Western Community College, University of Kansas, and Iowa State University.

Saturday the Cougar Navy team consisting of Hailey Collins, Claire Sandstrom, Ashley Westbrook, Katie Leonard, Rachel Doran and Katyn Fischer bowled six regular games totaling 4,694 pins, putting them in 11th place for the first day out of 16 teams.  The Silver team, consisting of Zaria Combs, Sammie Degenhardt, Emma West, Lindsay Tribble and Megan Phillips had a total of 4,415 pins placing them in fifth place out of six teams after day one.

On Sunday both teams returned to action where they bowled four four-game matches of Baker scoring totaling 16 Baker games for the day.  The Navy team bowled very well all day posting a 16 game total of 2,983, more than 40 pins higher than the closest competitor, but it wasn't enough to make up for Saturday's scoring, leaving them with a 10th place finish.

The Silver team did however make the match play round but lost to Midland University in the first round ending the weekend.
