Columbia, Mo. – The men's and women's track and field teams were back in action yesterday when they competed in two meets. The Cougars traveled across town to compete in the 2019 Mizzou Spring Open and traveled to Fayette, Missouri to compete in the Central Methodist Invite. No team scores were reported for either event. On the men's side, they had one individual hit NAIA A standard and another hit NAIA B standard in the Mizzou Spring Open to qualify for Nationals.
In the Mizzou Spring Open, the men's side was led by
Alex Fritz who took first in the 400 meter with a time of 47.79. His mark qualified him for Nationals as he hit NAIA A standard and is now ranked seventh in the performance list.
Malik Holman took first in the 1500 meter run with a time of 3:58.
Jacob Jenkins competed in the 800 meter and took second with a time of 1:56.
Mason McCaleb competed in shot put, hammer, and discuss. McCaleb took third in both shot put (15.21) and hammer (51.71) while taking fifth in discuss (45.28). McCaleb's hammer throw hit NAIA B standard.
Travis Line was another competitor in the 1500 meter and took fourth (4:00). The 4x100 relay team made up of
Jimmy Gianopulos,
Sharrod Connor,
Lukas Flacke, and
Aidin Rolley finished in fourth with a time of 43.31.
In the Central Methodist Invite, the men's side was led by
Tristan Baze and
Luke Lohmeyer as they both took seventh in their events. Baze competed in the 3000 steeplechase (10:56) while Lohmeyer competed in pole vault (4.10).
In the Mizzou Spring Open, the women's side was led by
Halie Moeller as she took sixth in the 400 meter (1:02) and
Brianna Haller placed ninth in the 1500 meter (4:52).
Hannah Ricketts finished eighth in hammer as she threw a distance of 45.28.
Kaleena Logan competed in long jump and took ninth in the event with a distance of 5.25 to round out the top performers.
In the Central Methodist Invite, the women's side was led by
Taylor Luster who took sixth in pole vault (2.75) and
Tessa Edgar who took eighth in javelin (27.46) and ninth in high jump (1.45).
The men's and women's outdoor track and field team is back in action on Saturday, April 13
th when they travel to Wichita, Kansas, to compete in the Wichita State KT Woodman Classic.
