Harrisburg, Pennsylvania – The Cougar Esports team advanced to the quarterfinals after day one at the second annual HUE Fest Invitational. Columbia is the defending champions for the League of Legends tournament after defeating Harrisburg University in the 2018 finals. The Cougars return to the 2019 stage with a slightly different lineup than last year. Replacing Evan "EvanRL" Lawson in the ADC position is Andrew "AndyBendy" Forman. Additionally, Joshua "Nintendudex" Atkins is filling in for Robert "Arjay" Bohnak in the jungle.
Harrisburg University hosted over thirty teams from across the country, some coming as far as California to compete. Day one of the competition began with pool play where teams were placed into groups and competed for seedings to advance to the round of 16 knockout stage. The Cougars were delayed making it to the tournament due to flight cancelations, but were not disqualified from competing. The team was able to secure the tenth seed going into bracket play, despite having to forfeit some matches during the initial pool play.
In bracket play, the Cougars defeated University of Louisiana-Lafayette 2-0 to end the day. Tomorrow they will face Maryville University at 9 a.m. EST in the next round. The other remaining teams include HU Storm, Robert Morris, Winthrop, Ohio State, Stony Brook, and HU Tempest.
