Cougars Compete in Snow Bird Open

Jacksonville, Ill. – The Columbia College men's and women's indoor track and field teams traveled to Jacksonville, Illinois to compete in the Snow Bird Open earlier today.

Alex Fritz and Travis Line led the way for the men with Fritz claiming both the 400 meter (50.59) and the 200 meter (22.70), while Line took first in both the mile (4:37) and the 800 meter (2:01)In addition, Alexander Dukes finished first in the 3000 meter (8:58), Jacob Jenkins placed second in the mile (4:39) and third in the 800 meter (2:03), and Malachi Jackson finished second in the 55 meter hurdles (8.20).
 
The women's team was led by Hannah Ricketts and the 4000 meter DMR team made up of Kyla Bertschinger, Brianna Haller, Mikayla Sehlmeyer, and Ebony Kimmins. Ricketts took first in weight throw with a distance of 15.83 meters while the DMR team also claimed their event finishing with a time of 13:29. Haller also competed in the 3000 meter and took second with a time of 27.29. Other notable finishes include Lily Ashrafzadeh who finished second in the 200 meter with a time of 27.29, while Halie Moeller finished second in the 400 meter (1:05) and third in pole vault (2.66 meters).

The men's and women's indoor track and field teams will be back in action on Saturday, February 1 when they travel to Elsah, Illinois to compete in the Principia Relays.
