St. Charles, Mo. - The Cougars bowling team traveled to St. Charles, Missouri this weekend to bowl in the 12
th Annual Lions Classic sponsored by Lindenwood University.
Wichita State, Oklahoma Christian, Lindenwood, Newman, Saint Xavier, Missouri Baptist, Barton Community College, College of St. Mary, Lincoln College and McKendree all participated in the Classic.
The tournament was double elimination consisting of three regular games and 16 Baker games to set the seeding for the second day. At the end of the first day, Columbia was seeded ninth out of the 11 teams with a team total of 4,944 pins.
The Cougars defeated fourth seeded Newman and third seeded Lindenwood to start off day two. Lindenwood would come back from the loser's bracket to defeat Columbia in the next two matches, ending their day with a fourth place finish. The eventual winner of the tournament was Wichita State who defeated Oklahoma Christian in the championship.
Katyn Fischer finished eighth out of 80 bowlers with a total of 535 for an average of 178. Mollie Goodwin finished 15
th,
Katie Leonard was 26
th and
Grace Kowalski and
Hailey Collins ended in 32
nd and 41
st, respectively.
The Cougars will travel to Salina, Kansas on March 6 and 7 to take part in the Heart of America Conference tournament.
