Springfield, Mo. – Former Columbia College women's volleyball player Amy Lodes Witte was honored with the Wynn Award at the annual Missouri Sports Hall of Fame luncheon held at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in March.
The Wynn award recognizes former high school and college standouts who made positive impacts in their respective sports. The award is named after the late Dr. Mary Jo Wynn, the pioneer of women's athletics at Missouri State University.
Witte played volleyball at Columbia College from 1988-1992, where she was a four-time Conference Player of the Year, District 16 Player of the Year and was named an NAIA Second Team All-American.
In 2003, Witte was inducted into the Columbia College Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the Inaugural Class. Following her senior season, Witte became the first Cougar volleyball player to have her jersey number retired.
After her time at CC, Witte has gone on to a successful career, where for the past 22 years, she has been working in animal agriculture. In 1997, she married Michael Witte and they have two children, Sullivan, 19 and Graham, 16.
