BELLEVILLE, Ill. - The Columbia College bowling team competed at the National Team Match Games over the weekend, placing 8th of 19 teams in the Tier I event. This achievement marked the highest finish in a Tier I event in program history.
Emma Shaner and
Allyson Johnson placed within the top-12 as individuals, marking the first time any Cougar has posted this successful of a Tier I result.
Shaner placed tenth overall, averaging a 185 across five games. Her highest game across the board was 197, and went no lower than 176. This is Shaner's second top-10 finish of the season and fourth of her career.
Johnson finished just behind Shaner taking 11th place, averaging 184.8 in the five game stretch. She threw two games in the 200's, while adding a 223, a team high on the weekend. In the final 3 games, she shot a 622 to put herself into the top 12. This also marked the best finish of Johnson's career.
On the final day of the National Team Match Games, the Cougars averaged a 170 across the 20 Baker games. Columbia added two games over 200, with a team high of 223. Due to their stellar performance, the Cougars made way, moving up one position in the final standings.
