JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Columbia College men's track and field team took part in the Snowbird Open in Jacksonville, Ill. this weekend.
Brenin Howell captured a school record in shot put with a first place finish, earning an NAIA "B" Standard with a national qualifying mark of 15.89m.
As a result, Howell has qualified for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Indoor Championships in Gainesville, Fla. in late February.
Several Cougars recorded top-three finishes including
Oscar Curry capturing the fastest mile time (4:22.85) and a third place finish in the 800 meter dash (2:01.13),
Kalieb Redda finishing runner-up in the mile run (4:23.18) and a third place result in the 3000 meter run (8:48.71),
Trystan Wright placed second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.59, and
Silas Woodbury finishing runner-up in high jump (1.80m). Columbia's 'A' 4x400 Meter Relay team also secured a runner-up finish, claiming a time of 3:33.47.
