ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Columbia College women's bowling team opened their season this weekend at the Lions Classic, hosted by Lindenwood University. The Cougars placed third in a pool of seven teams.
Emma Shaner earned her sixth career top-10 finish while recording the best single-tournament average of her career.
The Cougars closed out the tournament with an 836 series. The stretch included a 246 Baker game, which ranks as the third-highest single Baker game in program history. Columbia averaged 183 across all 12 Baker games, the third-best Baker average in a single tournament in program history.
Columbia defeated Cottey 2-1 in the first round before falling to Missouri Baptist 2-1 in round two. The team advanced in the elimination bracket with a 2-0 win over Central Methodist but was eliminated by McKendree 2-0.
In the reserve division, Columbia also placed third, falling to Lindenwood 2-0 and Missouri Baptist 2-1 in their bracket matches.
