Dance Season-High Highlights Cougar Classic

Columbia, MO - The Columbia College cheer and dance teams hosted the second annual Cougar Classic inside the Arena of Southwell Complex last night. The Cougar dance team highlighted the night as the squad set a new season-high score in their competition against Missouri Valley College. 

The Classic started with cheer as Columbia, Culver-Stockton College, and the University of Saint Mary (USM) all competed against each other. USM would claim first place with zero deductions, while Columbia came in second with Culver-Stockton in third. 

Next, the dance competition between Columbia and Missouri Valley kicked off.

The Cougars scored a season-high with a score of 80.5, marking its third highest score in program history. The Cougars defeated the Vikings of MVC to claim first place. 

Columbia squared off against Culver-Stockton in a cheer dual next. Improving from their first score of the night, the Cougars fell to the Wildcats by less than five points. 

To wrap up the night, Columbia dance took on Graceland in the final dual. Graceland danced first, earning an 80.8 score, followed by Columbia with a score of 79.25. 

Both cheer and dance now turn their sights towards the AMC Qualifier, hosted by Columbia College, on March 7th and 8th.
