Alton, Ill. — The Columbia College women's golf team placed third at the Missouri Baptist University Fall Classic on Tuesday, finishing one stroke behind second-place Baker University (Kan.). Ellie Soderholm won the individual title by six strokes, notching her third-straight of the fall campaign.
Columbia finished with a two-round total of 648 (323, 325). Bethel (Tenn.) won the team title at 632, with Baker second at 647. The Cougars were third after the first round, then posted the second-best round of the day to nearly catch Baker. UHSP took fourth at 682, while William Woods and Central Methodist tied for fifth at 687.
Soderholm finished with a 146 (72, 74), the only player in the field to shoot even par in a round, and had the low round on both days. Bethel's Charli Weatherford was second at 152, and Central Methodist's Clara Magnebrant was third at 154.
Viviana Boix tied for sixth at 159, improving from an 81 in the first round to a 78 in the second. Annabeth Ohlau tied for 18th at 171 (85, 86). Madison Wolf placed 26th at 180, cutting six strokes in the second round (93, 87), and Harper McClard finished 30th at 184.
Competing as individuals, Addyson Brenner tied for 22nd at 173 (87, 86), and Erika Mullen placed 36th at 191.
The Cougars return to action at the Battle at Winter Creek on Oct. 12-13.
