PITTSBURG, Kan. - The Columbia College track and field teams competed at the Gorilla Classic this weekend hosted by Pittsburg State. The Cougar men were led by Kalieb Haileselassie who had an outstanding day, earning a first place finish in the 5000m run with a time of 14:43.26 that hit the NAIA B Standard. Haileselassie also broke the Columbia school record in the 3000m with a third place finish at 8:27.50.
The Cougar women were highlighted by Hailey Gerard who finished 10th in the 3000m run with a time of 10:10.17.
Columbia returns to action at the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Indoor Championships in Elsah, Ill. on February 21st.
