Esports Weekly Recap

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Columbia College Esports program's weekly recap for March 9–12. The Cougars had a busy week!

Rocket League Navy Honored Senior Reyn Kiyota - Xerx on Senior Night. The Cougars celebrated Reyn's accomplishments and contributions to the Esports program while picking up a 3-0 win over Baker University.

Rocket League Navy Won the First Collegiate Rocket League Open! – Rocket League Navy competed in the first CRL Open of the spring as the number one seed in their group. The double-elimination bracket proved to be a challenge early for the Cougars, as they dropped a series against Winthrop University in game five of a best-of-five series in the upper bracket. The Cougars mounted a strong lower bracket run and ultimately faced Winthrop again in the grand finals. The Cougars not only forced a bracket reset but swept Winthrop University (S.C.) in two series 3-0 to claim the championship of their bracket. The Cougars will compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship on March 21st in Overland Park, Kan.

Valorant Stays Perfect! – Valorant remains perfect on the season after picking up two wins over Briar Cliff University (Iowa) and Milwaukee (Wisc.). Both wins secured the number one seeds in both the Midwest Esports Conference and the Collegiate Valorant Conference heading into playoffs later this month!

Madden Fights to Stay in Playoff Contention – Madden picked up three big wins this week to keep their playoff hopes alive. Madden will need to win next week to be eligible for the last chance qualifier for the ECAC playoffs.
