Haileselassie Sets New School Record at WashU Distance Carnival

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Columbia College junior Kalieb Haileselassie turned in the performance of his career at the WashU Distance Carnival on March 27, clocking a 14:26.39 in the 5000 meters to set a new school record and earn an NAIA B standard qualifier.

The time breaks the previous Columbia College record of 14:34.75, slicing more than eight seconds off the mark in a single race. Haileselassie's 14:26.39 also dips well under the NAIA B standard of 14:45.00.

Haileselassie has steadily rewritten the Columbia record books, and will look to carry the momentum throughout the rest of the outdoor season.

Columbia track and field will head to Fayette, Mo. on Thursday and Friday April 2-3 to compete in the Central Methodist Invite.
