Columbia, MO - The Columbia College cheer team got to compete at home for the second consecutive year in the American Midwest Conference Championships.

Kiarah Morris,
Laney Phillips,
Layne Sanders,
Olivia Orr, and
Renae Billups all earned AMC Academic All-Conference.
Competing in a loaded field with St. Ambrose, Dickinson State, and Oklahoma City that all placed in the top-10 at NAIA Nationals last season, the Cougars performed well through prelims and finals.
In the preliminary round, the Cougars scored a 74.03 with zero deductions and moved on to the finals in fifth place.
The finals saw the Cougars face their first deduction of the day with a 0.75 impact, finishing with a score of 72.38
After the two rounds were averaged and added, the Cougars final score of 72.80 put Columbia in fifth place.
Layne Sanders was named to the AMC Competitive Cheer Champions of Character team.
The Cougars will now prepare for NCA Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida.
