Cougars Compete Across Both Days at UCM Mule Relays

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Columbia College track and field teams returned to Warrensburg, Missouri, for the UCM Mule Relays, hosted by the University of Central Missouri, continuing to build momentum heading into the heart of the outdoor season.

The Cougar men were paced by Marcos Lara and Ryan Brown, who ran 3:55.05 and 3:56.66, respectively, to finish fourth and fifth in the invite 1500m — both improving on their marks from the CMU Invite two weeks prior. Laik Graham posted a strong outdoor 5000m with a fourth-place finish in 15:40.18, and Brenin Howell had a productive day in the field, finishing fourth in discus at 52.30m and sixth in shot put at 16.26m. The men's 4x400 relay 'A' squad clocked a 3:19.68 to finish sixth of 14.

The Cougar women were highlighted by Lauren Berhorst, who finished third of 32 in the 5000m open with a time of 19:13.81. Montgomery Keck advanced out of the 100m hurdles semifinals with a 14.50 and went on to finish fifth in the finals at 14.63, continuing her strong outdoor hurdles campaign. Ellie Berendzen led the throws corps with an eighth-place hammer finish at 50.38m, improving on her CMU Invite mark.

Columbia returns to action at the Dewey Allgood Invite on April 18th in Rolla, Mo.
