FAYETTE, Mo. – The Columbia College track and field teams traveled to Fayette, Missouri, to compete in the CMU Invite, hosted by Central Methodist University. Garrett Donald and Montgomery Keck each broke program records to lead Columbia to six event wins and five program records across two days of competition in Fayette.

The Cougars set five program records across the two-day meet, highlighted by sophomore Garrett Donald who broke the program record twice in one day — running a 46.83 in the 400m to hit the NAIA "A" standard and a 21.00 in the 200m to hit the NAIA "B" standard. Sophomore Montgomery Keck set a program record in the 100m hurdles with a 14.68 in the finals, and both relay units got in on the record-breaking as the women's 4x100 team of Keck, Rachel Hargis, Marianna Tomc and Caleigh Huot ran a 49.44, while the men's 4x400 squad of Jace Carr, Conner Diaz, Bernard Bailey and Donald clocked a 3:20.96.

The Cougar men were led by Donald and Marcos Lara, who won the 1500m in a field of 56 with a 3:58.49, with Ryan Brown taking third at 3:59.16. Brenin Howell won the men's shot put at 16.51m (54-02), Easton Haslag won the men's javelin at 51.38m (168-07), and the men's 4x800 squad of Lara, Liam Lyon, Brown and Campbell Nichols won their relay in a season-opening 7:50.83.

The Cougar women were highlighted by Keck's record-breaking day, which also included winning the triple jump with a 12.15m. The women's 4x800 relay team of Kari Kemna, Nataly Gutierrez, Brenley Webb and Kaylin Patton opened the outdoor season in dominant fashion, clocking a 10:19.15 to win the event.

Columbia returns to action at the Mule Relays on April 9-10 in Warrensburg, Mo.
