COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Columbia College track and field programs split into three separate competitions over the weekend of May 8-9, competing at the USF Fighting Chance Invite in Joliet, Ill., the Concordia Twilight in Seward, Neb., and "The Almost Last Chance" Invitational in Pittsburg, Kan.
Kalieb Haileselassie won the 1500 meters at USF in 4:02.45, and the 4x800 relay team of Ryan Brown, Max Stephan, Campbell Nichols and Marcos Lara claimed first in 7:37.37 — an NAIA "B" qualifying mark. At the Concordia Twilight, Brenin Howell swept the throwing events with NAIA "B" standards in both the discus (50.34m/165-2) and shot put (16.70m/54-9.5). On the women's side, Ellie Berendzen threw a school-record 51.85 meters (170-1) in the hammer for an NAIA "B" mark and a second-place finish in Seward.
