Track and Field Set to Compete at NAIA Championships

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Members of the Columbia College men's and women's track and field teams are gearing up for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Asheville, N.C. at Karl Straus Track on May 20-22. The Cougars are sending 11 individuals to compete in their respective events.


May 20th
Ellie Berendzen - Hammer - 11:00 A.M. CT
  • Threw a personal best in hammer at the 2026 Concordia Twilight with a 51.85m mark
  • 2026 AMC Outdoor Champion in hammer
  • Competing at her first NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships

Marcos Lara - 1500m - 3:10 P.M. CT
  • Recorded a personal best in the 1500m at the 2026 Kip Janvrin Open with a 3:52.54
  • 2026 AMC Outdoor Champion in the 1500m
  • Making his debut at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships

Easton Haslag - Javelin - 3:30 P.M. CT
  • Posted a program best in javelin with a mark of 63.27m at the 2026 AMC Outdoor Championships
  • Two-time AMC Outdoor Champion in javelin
  • Making his second appearance at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships

Ryan Brown, Marcos Lara, Max Stephan, Campbell Nichols - 4x800 Relay - 5:50 P.M. CT
  • Crowned 2026 AMC Outdoor Champions in the 4x800 Relay
  • Brown is competing in his second NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships

May 21st
Brenin Howell - Shot Put - 12:00 P.M. CT
  • Hit his best mark of the outdoor season in shot put at 16.99m at the UCM Invite
  • 2026 AMC Outdoor Champion in shot put
  • Named USTFCCCA Men's Field Athlete of the Year, South Central Region
  • Named Co-Outstanding Field Athlete and Co-Athlete of the Meet
  • Competing in his second NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships

Garrett Donald - 400m Prelims- 3:20 P.M. CT
  • Earned his best time in the 400m at the 2026 CMU Invite with a time of 46.83
  • Named USTFCCCA Men's Track Athlete of the Year, South Central Region
  • Competing in his first NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships

Montgomery Keck - Triple Jump - 4:30 P.M. CT
  • Set a personal best in triple jump at the UCM Invite with a 12.15m jump
  • Two-time AMC Outdoor Champion in triple jump
  • Making her first appearance at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships

May 22nd
Kenny Miller - Discus - 8:00 A.M. CT
  • Threw a personal best of 51.21m in discus at the 2026 UCM Invite
  • Making his third appearance at NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships

Brenin Howell - Discus - 8:00 A.M. CT
  • Broke the CC program record with a mark of 52.30m in discus at the 2026 UCM Invite
  • Two-time AMC Outdoor Champion in discus

Kalieb Haileselassie - 5000m - 3:55 P.M. CT
  • Posted a personal best in the 5000m at the 2026 WashU Distance Carnival with a time of 14:26.39
  • Two-time AMC Outdoor Champion in the 5000m
  • Making his third appearance at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships
