Columbia Captures Ninth Consecutive Presidents Cup, Sweep AMC Honors

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – For the ninth year in a row, the Columbia College Athletics Department has secured the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Presidents' Cup, while also winning their third-straight Valerie Beeson Women's Sports Championship and second-ever Lowell Pitzer Men's Sports Championship. This is the second time Columbia has earned all three awards in the same year.

The Presidents' Cup is awarded to the institution accumulating the most points, determined by final regular-season standings in the 17 conference championship sports. The Valerie Beeson Women's Sports Championship Trophy and the Lowell Pitzer Men's Sports Championship Trophy are awarded to the institution accumulating the most points, determined by the final regular-season standings of women's and men's championship sports.

Points are awarded in a manner that the Conference champion receives five times the number of teams sponsoring each sport, each subsequent team receives five fewer points than the team finishing above it (with the last place team earning five points). Should teams tie in the final standings or results, the total number of available points among the tied spots will be combined and then divided by the number of tied teams.

"Winning the Presidents' Cup for the ninth consecutive year is a testament to the consistency and commitment to excellence that define Columbia College Athletics," said Director of Athletics Cindy Potter. "Our coaches do an incredible job setting the standard every day, and our student-athletes continue to rise to that challenge. This achievement reflects a department-wide dedication to doing things the right way and competing at the highest level."

The Cougars accumulated 530 points in the final Presidents' Cup standings, finishing 267.5 points ahead of the Eagles of Williams Baptist University (Ark.).

During the 2025-26 campaign, the Cougars captured 15 championships. Columbia's 15 conference titles this year are the most in a single season since 2010-11.

Taking home first place points were women's soccer, men's soccer, women's cross country, men's cross country, volleyball, women's basketball, men's basketball, women's golf, men's golf, women's indoor track and field, men's indoor track and field, softball, baseball, women's outdoor track and field, and men's outdoor track and field.

Columbia sits at the second most-ever Presidents' Cup with nine, as former AMC institution McKendree University (Ill.) accumulated 11.

The Valerie Beeson Women's Sports Championship Trophy recognizes the school that accumulates the most points in the final standings across all women's championship sports. Beeson is the longtime Conference Eligibility Chair, was a member of the inaugural class of the AMC Hall of Fame and was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame in 2001.

Columbia took home their third Valerie Beeson Women's Sports Championship, becoming the first school to accept the award for the 2023-24 season. The Cougars collected 290 points on the women's side, holding a 122.5 point advantage over Williams Baptist.

After securing the first Lowell Pitzer Men's Sports Championship in 2023-24, the Cougars captured their second this school year. Columbia added 220 points on the men's side, with a 110 point edge over the Trojans of Hannibal-LaGrange University (Mo.).
