Aaron Shockley enters his sixth season as the Columbia College Director of Esports in the fall of 2025. During his tenure as the Director of Esports for the Cougars, Shockley has earned an overall program record of 1376-577-1, CRL National Championship and 60 conference championships. He has coached a CRL National Player of year, two ECAC MVP of the Conference, MVP of the Great Lakes Conference, 40 All-Academic Players, and 91 CC AD Honor Roll Players.
In 2024, The Cougars were able to add to Columbia’s historic program by qualifying for both the Collegiate Valorant National Championship and the CECC May Madness Championship. The Cougars also achieved the highest national ranking in program history for Rainbow 6 siege by being ranked second in the nation. Columbia posted an overall program record of 169-79 with 16 Championships. The Cougars placed 37 players on the CC AD Honor Roll, achieved two ECAC MVP of the Conference, and MVP of the Great Lakes Conference.
In 2023, Columbia’s Rainbow 6 Siege team secured the programs first championship in the game title by winning both the Fall and Spring Championship. Columbia posted a 420-173 overall program record with 18 Championships. The Cougars placed 35 players on the CC AD Honor Roll.
In 2022, Shockley led the Cougars to the programs first National Championship in Rocket League. The Cougars went 265-132 in the overall program. CC was able to secure 11 championships from four different teams. The Cougars produced a CRL National Player of the Year, and academically had 19 players on the CC AD Honor Roll.
In 2021, Shockley led the Cougars to the first ever Collegiate Rocket League World Championship where they finished top 8 among 12 other nations. Under the guidance of Shockley, the Cougars finished the season with an overall program record of 320-95 which was the highest winning percentage in program history and set a new program record for most victories in a season. In the 2021 season, the Cougars secured 15 conference championships with two national and world rankings.
During his First season as the Director of Esports, Shockley led the Cougars achieve another top 8 finish in Collegiate League of Legends with an overall record of 7-3.
Prior to Columbia College, Shockley spent 4 seasons as the Director of Esports at Central Methodist University where he started the esports program. He led the eagles to three playoff finals, eight national rankings, and sixteen playoff appearances over his four years with the program. Shockley had an overall program record of 129-119. Shockley also had two “players of the year” and forty all-academic players.
Shockley, a native of Jackson, Missouri, received his undergraduate degree in Sports Management from Central Methodist University (2012) in Fayette. He received his master’s degree in Sports Administration from Central Methodist University in the spring of 2015.
