Camden Johnson enters his second year as an Esports Graduate Assistant, as he is in his sixth and final year of college. Coming off a successful year, Johnson hopes to continue national status across multiple esports titles.
2023 - Johnson primarily focused on the Rocket League program, where he coached Navy, Silver, and White to an overall record of 222-91. Rocket League secured 10 championships across the 2023-2024 season.
At University of Texas at Arlington
Prior to committing to Columbia College as a Graduate Assistant of Esports, Johnson played Rocket League for four years at UT Arlington. Over those four years, Johnson cemented himself as one of the best collegiate Rocket League players of all time, finishing his career #1 overall in points, #1 in saves, #3 in assists, and #5 in goals. Johnson won the western conference in summer 2021, finished second in spring 2022, and second again in spring 2023. In 2022, Johnson and UT Arlington qualified for the first ever CRL World Championship, where they competed against teams from USA, Canada, England, and Germany. Johnson and UT Arlington made it to the quarterfinals, and Johnson was rated the third best player at the tournament.
Johnson has had prior experience with being a part of teams and competed in traditional sports for 15 years, including basketball and captaining his soccer team. Johnson got his gamer tag “samba” from his soccer club Samba King Soccer.
Johnson received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2022.
Johnson is a native of Mansfield/Arlington, Texas. Camden and his family still reside in the Mansfield/Arlington area.
