Box Score Columbia, Mo. - The 12
th-ranked Cougar Volleyball team avenged a regular season loss to Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University on Thursday night, defeating the Lions 3-0 (25-12, 25-7, 25-22) in the semifinal round of the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Tournament. Columbia, the conference regular season champion and top overall seed, improves to 27-9 with the victory and advances to the AMC Tournament Championship match.
The Cougars dominated the match from start to finish, taking game one 25-12 behind eight kills from
Trinity Ojo. Columbia cruised to a 25-7 win in the second set of the match and closed out the match with a 25-22 victory in game three.
The Cougars posted a .467 hitting percentage on the night, led by Ojo with 16 kills.
Paula Rosa added 13 kills and a match-high 16 digs, while
Lydie van Deursen dished out 42 assists to lead all players.
Columbia will host No. 2 seed Park University on Saturday, November 16
th in a rematch of last season's tournament championship match. The Cougars defeated the Pirates 3-1 back on October 25
th and will be looking for their second straight tournament title. Match time is set for 1:00 p.m. at the Arena of Southwell Complex.
