Box Score Bellevue, Neb. - The Cougar Volleyball team picked up its sixth straight victory on Saturday, defeating 16
th-ranked Bellevue University 3-1 (25-23, 20-25, 25-20, 25-16). Columbia, ranked 15
th in this week's NAIA Top 25 Poll, improves to 23-9 on the year with the win.
The Cougars got off to a quick start in game one of the match and led 13-5 midway through the set. However, the Bruins would rally late with a 6-1 run to tie the game at 22. Columbia would respond by taking three of the next four points for a 25-23 opening game victory. The Cougars led a 19-17 in set two, but an 8-1 run by Bellevue to end the game evened the match at 1-1. Columbia led 14-13 in the third set and put the game away with a 6-2 run for a 2-1 lead in the match. The Cougars and Bruins were tied at 15 midway through game four, but Columbia would close out the match with a 10-1 run for a 25-16 win.
Paula Rosa finished with 17 of Columbia's 56 kills to lead all players.
Lydie van Deursen had a match-high 45 assists and
Erin Pavlin contributed 17 digs for the Cougars as well.
Columbia will be back in action on Friday, November 8
th when they host conference foe Lyon (Ark.) College. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Arena of Southwell Complex.
