Columbia wins 3-1 at Bellevue for sixth straight win

Box Score Bellevue, Neb. - The Cougar Volleyball team picked up its sixth straight victory on Saturday, defeating 16th-ranked Bellevue University 3-1 (25-23, 20-25, 25-20, 25-16). Columbia, ranked 15th in this week's NAIA Top 25 Poll, improves to 23-9 on the year with the win.

The Cougars got off to a quick start in game one of the match and led 13-5 midway through the set. However, the Bruins would rally late with a 6-1 run to tie the game at 22. Columbia would respond by taking three of the next four points for a 25-23 opening game victory. The Cougars led a 19-17 in set two, but an 8-1 run by Bellevue to end the game evened the match at 1-1. Columbia led 14-13 in the third set and put the game away with a 6-2 run for a 2-1 lead in the match. The Cougars and Bruins were tied at 15 midway through game four, but Columbia would close out the match with a 10-1 run for a 25-16 win.

Paula Rosa finished with 17 of Columbia's 56 kills to lead all players. Lydie van Deursen had a match-high 45 assists and Erin Pavlin contributed 17 digs for the Cougars as well.

Columbia will be back in action on Friday, November 8th when they host conference foe Lyon (Ark.) College. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Arena of Southwell Complex.
