Box Score Leavenworth, Kan. - The Lady Cougar basketball team bounced back from a disappointing Friday night loss to defeat the University of Saint Mary 116-49 on Saturday afternoon on their final day at the Saint Mary Classic. Columbia, ranked 13
th in the NAIA Preseason Top 25 Poll, improves to 2-2 on the year with the win.
The Lady Cougars shot 69 percent from the field and hit 8 of 15 attempts from three-point range in the first period as they built a 65-30 lead at the halftime break.
Heather English led all scorers with 21 points in the opening half and Columbia dominated the boards with a 21-8 rebounding advantage. The Lady Cougars continued their hot shooting in the second period, knocking down 19 of 34 shots on their way to the blowout win.
Columbia finished at 62 percent from the field for the game, led by a career-high 32 points from English. Five other Lady Cougars finished in double figures, including career-highs of 18 and 14 points by
Laurel Wichmann and
Corri Hamilton respectively.
Tierney Seifert added a season-high 15 points and six assists to go along with 10 points each from Danielle Duncan and
Ashley Fisher.
Columbia will travel to 21
st-ranked University of the Cumberlands for their next game on Saturday, November 30
th. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. CST in Williamsburg, Ky.
