Box Score Columbia, Mo. - The 13
th-ranked Cougar Volleyball team closed out the regular season with a 3-0 victory (25-15, 25-14, 25-13) over American Midwest Conference opponent Williams Baptist (Ark.) College on Saturday afternoon. With the win, Columbia improves to 25-9 (10-1 AMC) and also clinches the conference regular season championship.
The Cougars started game one of the match on an 8-1 run and took the last five points of the set for a 25-15 victory. Columbia got off another to another quick start in game two and cruised to a 2-0 advantage in the match after building a 14-3 lead to begin the set. The Cougars faced little resistance once again in game three as they closed out the match with a 25-13 win.
Columbia was led by
Paula Rosa with a match-high 14 kills. The Cougars also received 13 and 11 kills from
Trinity Ojo and
Sarah Schwentker, respectively.
Lydie van Deursen finished with 41 assists to lead all players and
Erin Pavlin added 19 digs. Prior to the match, Columbia honored Ojo, Pavlin, and fellow senior
Carol Berger as part of Senior Day.
The Cougars will host Lyon (Ark.) College in the first round of the AMC Tournament on Tuesday, November 12
th. As regular season champions and the tournament's top seed, Columbia will have home-court advantage throughout the tournament. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Arena of Southwell Complex.
