Box Score St. Louis, Mo. - The 13
th-ranked Lady Cougar basketball team picked up a 93-66 road victory at American Midwest Conference foe Harris-Stowe State University on Saturday afternoon. Columbia improves to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play with the win.
Tierney Seifert knocked down a three-pointer on the Lady Cougars' first possession as Columbia jumped out to a 16-2 lead after five minutes of play. The Lady Cougars led by as many as 22 in the first half on their way to a 46-26 halftime advantage. Columbia shot 17 of 42 from the field and hit nine three-pointers in the opening period, led by
Ashley Fisher with 12 points. The Lady Cougars would stretch their lead out to 30 during the second half and cruise to the victory behind a 60 percent shooting clip over the final 20 minutes.
Fisher led five Columbia players in double figures with a season-high 18 points.
Laurel Wichmann added a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while
Kayla Washington also had 14.
Aqua Corpening and
Corri Hamilton also finished in double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
The Lady Cougars will travel to MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) University on Thursday, December 12
th for a non-conference tilt with the 8
th-ranked Pioneer women's squad (8-1, 2-0 HAAC). Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Olathe, Kan.
