Box Score Columbia, Mo. - The Cougar women's soccer team closed out the regular season with a 10-0 shutout victory at American Midwest Conference (AMC) opponent Stephens College this afternoon. Columbia improves to 10-5-1 and 10-1 in league play on the year with the win, while also clinching their second consecutive AMC regular season championship and have gained home-field advantage throughout the AMC Postseason Tournament.
The Cougars scored early and often throughout the first period, with
Tiffany Weaver netting the first goal of the match just three minutes into the contest. Columbia added nine more goals over the remainder of the first half which marked the last goals of the game.
Seven different players scored for Columbia in the match, including two goals each by
Tiffany Weaver,
Kelly Ross, and
Hannah Baptiste.
Laurie Frew,
Mercedes Kercado,
Carlie Howe, and
Katelyn Palmer each chipped in one goal.
Tori Magaletta finished with a game-high two assists while Frew, Kercado, Howe, and Palmer contributed one assist each. Sophomore
Flavia Rosado earned the shutout in goal for the Cougars.
The AMC Tournament quarterfinals will kick off on Friday, November 7
th. Columbia, the No. 1 seed, will host tournament play at R. Marvin Owens Soccer Stadium. With the regular season wrapping up the Cougars will wait for all the AMC games to be played before finding out whom they will play.
