Lady Cougars ranked 11th; Host HLG on Wednesday

Columbia, Mo. - The Lady Cougar basketball squad moved up one spot and is ranked 11th in Tuesday's latest release of the NAIA Women's Basketball Top 25 Poll. The top seven teams in the poll remained unchanged, led by top-ranked and undefeated Vanguard University (25-0) and American Midwest Conference member school Freed-Hardeman (29-1) at No. 1 and 2 respectively.

Columbia (24-6) wrapped up the 2013-14 regular season last week with a pair of wins over AMC opponents Benedictine-Springfield and Missouri Baptist. Junior Ashley Fisher averaged a team-high 17.5 points per contest in the two victories as the Lady Cougars finished with a 20-2 mark in league play. Columbia has won 12 of its past 13 games dating back to January 23rd and currently ranks in the top 10 nationally in numerous offensive categories, including fifth in scoring offense (84.1 ppg) and seventh in field goal percentage (.460).

The Lady Cougars finished second in the conference regular season standings behind Freed-Hardeman and will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming AMC Tournament. Columbia will host No. 7 seed Hannibal-LaGrange University in the tournament quarterfinals on Wednesday night after the Trojans defeated Benedictine-Springfield 74-57 on Tuesday.
