St. Louis, Mo. - The Columbia men's basketball team defeated American Midwest Conference newcomer St. Louis College of Pharmacy by a score of 85-33 on the road Saturday night. With the victory, the Cougars improve to 12-3 overall on the year and 5-2 in AMC play while the Eutectics fall to 2-5 on the season and 0-5 in league play.
Columbia opened the game on a 16-3 run and led 26-5 midway through the half. The Cougars stretched their lead out to 50-10 at the halftime break after shooting 63 percent from the field in the opening period.
Zach Rockers led the way for Columbia with eight points at the break. The Cougars maintained a sizeable lead over the final 20 minutes on their way to the blowout victory.
Columbia finished the game at 52 percent from the field while holding the Eutectics to 25 percent for the game. Four Cougars finished in double figures, led by
Jackson Dubinski with a season-high 17 points while also giving out a game-high five assists.
Rockers added 12 points and
Nic Reynolds chipped in 11 points.
John Meyer rounded out the scoring with 10 points.
Eric Clark pulled down a team-high eight rebounds as Columbia finished with a 42-34 advantage on the boards.
The Cougars will be back in action on Tuesday, January 6
th to host conference opponent Park University. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 pm at the Arena of Southwell Complex.
