Conway, Ark. - The 5
th-ranked Cougar volleyball squad posted two 3-0 victories this weekend on the road. On Friday, Columbia defeated conference opponent Central Baptist College by scores of 25-5, 25-9, and 25-11. The Cougars closed out their regular season Saturday afternoon, defeating Freed-Hardeman University by scores of 25-9, 25-13, and 25-16. The wins improve the Cougars to 24-7 overall and 11-1 in American Midwest Conference (AMC) play.
Against the Mustangs,
Penny Liu led the Cougars with 15 kills while
Polina Severina and
Eirini Chatziefstratiadou ended with six apiece.
Sashiko Heredia led all players with 36 assists and
Mikah Simpson chipped in 10 digs to go along with five service aces.
Columbia hit .481 percent against the Lions of Freed-Hardeman behind a game-high 15 kills from Liu. Chatziefstratiadou chipped in nine kills of her own and
Amber Graham finished with six. Liu also led the Cougars with nine digs while
Sashiko Heredia ended with 27 assists.
The Cougars will host the first round of the AMC tournament on Tuesday, November 10
th. Columbia will take on Lyon College in the quarter final round at 7:00 p.m. in the Arena of Southwell Complex.
