Cougar Men Take down Eutectics, 98-52

Columbia, Mo. - The Cougar men's basketball team won their third consecutive game on Saturday night, defeating American Midwest Conference (AMC) opponent St. Louis College of Pharmacy by a score of 98-52. Columbia, ranked No. 12 in Tuesday's latest release of the NAIA Top 25 Poll, moves to 22-4 overall and 15-3 in league play with the victory. With the win, the Cougars also improve to 8-0 all-time against the Eutectics.

The Cougars built a double-digit lead early in the first half as Zach Rockers knocked down a short jumper to put Columbia up 17-7 at the 12:23 mark. Columbia would maintain the lead over the remainder of the half and take a 49-31 advantage into the locker room at halftime. The Cougars outrebounded the Eutectics 18-8 in the opening period, while shooting 70 percent from the field and holding STCOP to a 39 percent clip. Rockers recorded 15 first half points.

Columbia extended their lead using a 28-5 run and led 88-47 midway through the second half. The Cougars continued to dominate from there as they outscored the Eutectics 10-5 down the stretch to pick up their 22nd victory of the season.

The Cougars shot 53 percent in the final half to end with a season-high 61 percent from the field, led by Zach Rockers with 19 points. Tanner Sutton added 15 points on 5 of 8 shooting from behind the arc while Nic Reynolds and Malik Ray chipped in 12 points apiece. Jeremy Nolen ended the night in double figures as well with 11 points. John Meyer pulled down a game-high seven rebounds, helping Columbia finish with a 37-20 edge on the boards. Kyle Jones had 21 points to lead the Eutectics, who were held to 37 percent from the floor on the night.

Columbia will return to action this Thursday, February 17th when they hit the road to take on Park University. Game time is set for a 7:30 p.m. start in Parkville, Mo.
