Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Hamilton Sinks 26 points in Victory over Stephens

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College women's basketball team bounced back from their loss at Park University earlier this week, with a dominating 94-42 win at crosstown foe Stephens College on Thursday night. With the victory, Columbia improves to 18-9 overall (14-7 AMC).

Senior guard, Tierney Seifert knocked down two three-pointers in the opening minutes as the Cougars raced out to an early 8-2 lead. The Stars scored four straight points from there and pulled within two, but that would be as close as they would come. Columbia stretched their lead to double-digits after Seifert sunk a third three-pointer at the 13:45 mark and led by 26 at intermission. The Cougars shot 39 percent in the first half led by Corri Hamilton with 12 points. Columbia extended their lead to 40 midway through the second half and ran away with the 52 point win over the Stars, their 15th consecutive victory over Stephens since 2009.

The Cougars shot 48 percent from the field while holding Stephens to a 29 percent clip, and forcing 26 turnovers. Columbia also finished the night with a 51-28 advantage on the boards. Hamilton led all players with a career-high 26 points and nine rebounds. Brittany Yost chipped in 18 points and four rebounds while Seifert added 12 points and five rebounds. Caprese Marshall handed out a season-high eight assists.

Columbia will hit the road on Saturday, February 21st for a conference matchup with Missouri Baptist University. Saturday's contest is set for a 2:00 p.m. start in St. Louis, Mo.
