Columbia, Mo. – The Cougar men's basketball team won their fourth consecutive game on Saturday evening, defeating American Midwest Conference (AMC) opponent Williams Baptist College by a score of 87-58 at Southwell Complex. Columbia, ranked No. 4 in Tuesday's latest release of the NAIA Top 25 Poll, moves to 16-1 overall and 9-0 in league play with the victory while the Eagles fall to 5-6 on the season and 3-5 against conference foes. The Cougars also improve to 32-3 vs. WBC and stretch their home game winning record to 20-0 against the Eagles, dating back to January 18
th, 2001.
The Cougars led 21-16 midway through the first half and would carry a 49-29 advantage into the halftime break. Columbia shot 64 percent from the field while holding the Eagles to 36 percent shooting in the half. The Cougars also held a 24-11 advantage on the boards.
Nic Reynolds led all players with 17 points after draining five threes while
Zach Rockers chipped in 10 points.
The Cougars outscored the Eagles 21-6 throughout the first 11 minutes of the second frame and never looked back from there as they led by as many as 35 on their way to victory.
Columbia finished shooting 55 percent from the field led by Reynolds with 23 points.
Nathan Biggs chipped in 18 points while Rockers finished with 15 points and seven rebounds.
Jackson Dubinski dished out a game-high seven assists.
The Cougars will look to keep their winning streak alive on Thursday, January 14
th when they travel to Park University. Game time is set for 7:30 pm in Parkville, Mo.
