Box Score Columbia, Mo. – Tonight the Columbia College men's soccer team took on Missouri Valley College in a non-conference matchup. The Cougars were defeated in the game by a score of 2-1 and fell to 9-5-1 on the season. The loss tonight was the first for the Cougars since September 9
th, when they lost in double overtime to Davenport (Mich.) University in Bourbonnais, Illinois.
In the first half of the match, the Cougars struggled to get anything going early. They were finally able to settle into a rhythm midway through the half and created several scoring opportunities while playing lock down defense. Columbia College was outshot in the first half 6-4 and had two shots on target. The game got chippy in the half as both sides had multiple fouls called on them including a yellow card given to Slaven Baskalo of the Vikings late in the period.
The Cougars came out early in the second half and created several scoring chances early.
Edin Campara had the best chance of the game, seven minutes into the second half, when he took on several Viking defenders and made a great run down the sideline before cutting the ball back and ripping a shot past the keeper and off of the far post.
The Vikings were able to get on the board 15 minutes into the second half when Slaven Baskalo cut the ball back and blasted a shot from around 28 yards away into the left corner of the net to put the Vikings ahead 1-0. The Cougars tied the game up with just over 15 minutes left in the game when

Hayes Wittrock who headed the ball into the back of the net for his first goal of the season.
Uros Illic had the game winner for the Vikings with just over 10 minutes left to play in the game when he received the ball at the top of the box and blasted a shot from nearly 25 yards out placing it just under the crossbar to put the Vikings ahead 2-1. The Cougars applied the pressure late in the game but were unable to find the back of the net.
Iain McTurk was in goal for Columbia College tonight recording three saves in the contest.
The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday, October 26
th when they take on Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) College in an AMC matchup. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. at R. Marvin Owen's Field. This game will serve as Senior Night for Columbia College and before the match we will honor the seniors.
