Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College women's soccer team moved up in the newest Women's Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll. The Cougars, who were previously ranked 19^th, moved up one spot to 18^th in the poll released yesterday by the NAIA after picking up two wins in the past week and improving their overall record to 12-1-2 on the season.

Columbia College was able to move up in the polls this week after defeating Lindenwood (Ill.) University-Belleville by a score of 1-0 and Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) University by a score of 6-0. The Cougars have been on a tear as of late and have won their last four games in a row as they look to solidify their spot as the top seed in the AMC tournament.

The Cougars have had a great season offensively outscoring their opponents 58-5 while racking up an NAIA leading 67 assists as a team. Laurie Frew, the reigning AMC Player of the year, continues to be the focal point of the offense as she has a team high 11 goals this season which is the eighth best in the NAIA. Katelyn Palmer has also had a great season offensively as she has set up her teammates 10 times this season which is the fourth best in the NAIA.

Despite being great offensively, it has been the defense from the Cougars that has set them apart this season. They have only allowed five goals while shutting out their opponents an NAIA leading 12 times. Flavia Rosado has been the anchor for the Cougars in goal and has been very tough to beat. She currently ranks third in the NAIA in goals against per game averaging 0.360.

The Cougars are back in action on Friday, October 21^st when they take on Stephens (Mo.) College in an AMC contest. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m. at Cosmo Park in Columbia.
