The Pirates handed Columbia College their only loss of the season in their matchup back in September but the Cougars have been on a tear since, outscoring their opponents 46-0 on their way to winning nine straight games.
The Cougars came out in the first half and dominated the Spartans early. They pushed the tempo from the opening whistle and created several scoring opportunities in the first five minutes of the half. The Spartans were able to stay composed defensively and did not allow Columbia College to find the back of the net as the Missouri Baptist keeper made several impressive saves in the opening minutes of the game.
Columbia College nearly found themselves down, 20 minutes into the game, when the Spartans forward was able to break through the Cougars back line and only had
Flavia Rosado to beat. However, Rosado made a huge save and quickly got the Cougars running the other way on the counter attack.
Tiffany Weaver put the Cougars ahead 1-0 just moments later when
Katelyn Palmer received the ball out on the wing before finding Weaver in the box who was able to settle it onto her right foot and beat the keeper to the lower right hand corner of the net.
In the second half, the Cougars dominated the possession as they looked to add to their one goal lead. They had several opportunities in the first 25 minutes of the half but were unable to capitalize as the Spartans defense broke down nearly every attack the Cougars threw at them. As the game neared the final whistle, the Spartans tried desperately to find the equalizing goal but
Flavia Rosado stood up to the test and kept the Spartans out of the net to solidify the 1-0 victory.
Flavia Rosado was in goal for Columbia College tonight recording four saves in the shutout victory. The shutout is the ninth in a row for the Cougars and their 17
