Box Score Walnut Ridge, Ark – The Cougar men's basketball team rebounded from Thursday night's loss on Saturday evening with an 88-70 victory over American Midwest Conference (AMC) opponent Williams Baptist College. Columbia, ranked No. 8 in Tuesday's latest release of the NAIA Top 25 Poll, moves to 23-5 overall and 16-4 in league play with the victory. With the win, the Cougars also improve to 33-3 all-time against the Eagles.
The Cougars raced out to a 20-12 advantage and led 42-25 with just under three minutes remaining in the half. However, the Eagles used a 9-0 run to cut the deficit to 10 at 44-34 headed into the halftime break. Columba shot 65 percent from the field while holding the Eagles to 38 percent shooting.
Columbia extended their lead to 66-51 at the 10:10 minute mark and led by double-digits the remainder of the game as they ran away with the 88-70 victory.
The Cougars finished shooting 60 percent from the field while the Eagles shot 41 percent. Columbia also ended with a 41-28 advantage on the boards.
Jesse Brown led Columbia with a season-high 18 points while
Zach Rockers posted his sixth double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Nic Reynolds and
Nathan Biggs rounded out the scoring with 15 points apiece.
The Eagles were led by Tevin Howard with a game-high 20 points and 10 rebounds
The Cougars will return to action when they host AMC opponent Park University on February 25
th. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at
Bob Burchard Court in Southwell Complex. Columbia seniors
