Box Score St. Louis, Mo. – Tonight the Columbia College volleyball team traveled to St. Louis, Missouri, to take on 15th ranked Missouri Baptist University in a rematch of last years National Championship game. This was the first time these two teams have met since last years final and was picked as this weeks AMC Game of the Week. The Cougars were unable to continue their winning streak as they were defeated in three straight sets (25-18, 25-22, 25-20) by the Spartans and drop to 8-8 on the season.
Missouri Baptist came out in the first set looking to make a statement against the Cougars. They jumped out to an early lead in the game and Columbia College was unable to catch up to them as the Spartans took the first set 25-18. In the second set, both teams exchanged points as neither side could break away. However, with the score tied at 18 the Spartans went on a 5-0 and took the game 25-22.
The third set was similar to the second with both teams going point for point for most of the game. With the score tied at 13, the Spartans went on a 4-0 run and broke away from Columbia College. Despite the Cougars best efforts, they were unable to catch up to their opponents as Missouri Baptist completed the three set sweep with a 25-20 win.

Peiyi Liu who had a match high 19 kills on 38 attacks for a .447 attacking percentage. Additionally,
Sashiko Heredia had 35 assists in the match as the AMC Setter of the Week continues her streak of great games.
The Cougars are back home in their next contest when MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) University comes to Columbia on Tuesday, October 4th. The match is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
