Columbia, Mo. – This afternoon the NAIA national office announced its fourth regular season NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll. The Cougars, who were ranked 12
th in the previous poll, moved down one spot to 13th after going 3-1 in their previous four games including a 68-67 win over the ninth ranked Lyon (Ark.) College Scots.
Columbia College is currently 18-4 on the season and 12-4 in conference play. They currently rank in the top 10 nationally in several categories including second in 3-pt field goals made per game (8.909), fourth in total 3-pt field goals made (196), eighth in scoring defense per game (55.318), and 10
th in both turnover margin (5.182) and free throw percentage (0.747). In addition, they rank 11
th in total blocks (89) and 13
th in total steals (241).
The Cougars are led by
Ashlee Marlatt who currently leads the team in points (12.46), assists (2.55), and steals per game (2.14). The sophomore guard out of St. James, Missouri, sits 17
th in the NAIA in total 3-pt field goals made (51), 28
th in total steals (47), and in the top 50 in 3-pt field goal percentage (0.383) and 3-pt field goals made per game (2.318).
The Cougars are back in action on Thursday, February 2
nd when they host 24th ranked Lindenwood University-Belleville in the AMC Game of the Week. Columbia College will look to avenge their loss to Lynx earlier in the season when they were defeated by a final score of 68-63 in Belleville, Illinois. The game is set to tip-off at 5:30 p.m. in the Southwell Athletic Complex.
