Cougars Assigned to Pool H in Sioux City

Columbia, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has released the pool assignments and schedule for the 2017 NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship final site in Sioux City, Iowa. The 12 winners from the national championship opening round games join the 19 teams that received an opening round bye and host Morningside (Iowa) to form the 32-team field.

The Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa, will serve as the venue for the 10th-straight women's volleyball national championship. The tournament will be played from November 28 – December 2. The championship match will be played on December 2 at 6 p.m. CST and will be broadcast on ESPN3 for the fourth time.

The 32 teams are divided into eight pools with four teams in each pool. The 2017 season is the second year that the field was expanded to 44 teams. The top two teams out of each pool will advance to the single-elimination bracket starting on December 1.

The ninth ranked Columbia College volleyball team will be competing in Pool H of the 2017 NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship. The Cougars will take on host Morningside (Iowa) College on Tuesday, November 28th, Tabor (Kan.) College on Wednesday, November 29th, and eighth ranked Grand View (Iowa) University on Thursday, November 30th. All three of the Cougars pool play games are set to start at 8 p.m. CST.

Morningside College, who earned the automatic host bid for the 2017 NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship, come into pool play with an 18-12 record on the season. As a team, they rank 33rd in the NAIA in blocks per game (2.060), and 36th in both assists per game (11.940) and hitting percentage (0.214). They are led by Callie Alberico who leads the team with 25 service aces and 877 assists.

Tabor College, who defeated Trinity Christian (Ill.) in five sets in the opening round, come into pool play with a 28-9 record on the season. The currently rank sixth in the NAIA in total assists (1732), seventh in total kills (1858), and 11th in total digs (2527). They are led by Amy Horner who ranks first in the NAIA in total kills (605) and sixth in kills per game (4.420).

Grand View University, who earned an opening round bye, come into pool play with a 31-7 record on the season. They rank third in the NAIA in total blocks (360), seventh in blocks per game (2.500), 16th in total kills (1747), and 20th in total assists (1582). They are led by Trystin Leneckas who ranks 10th nationally in total assists (1370) and Courtney Twit who ranks 10th nationally in total blocks (143).
