Columbia, Mo. – The NAIA national office has announced the second regular season Women's Volleyball Coaches Top 25 Poll. The Cougars, who were ranked seventh in the previous poll, remained seventh after going 7-1 since the last poll was released on September 5th. Columbia College currently sits at 12-3 on the season and 2-1 in conference play.
The Cougars have been playing great volleyball all season long and currently rank in the top five in two defensive categories and in top 50 in four offensive categories. They sit fourth in both total blocks (151) and blocks per game (2.850) while ranking 11th in hitting percentage (0.262), 40th in total kills (674), and 43rd in both total assists (609) and kills per game (12.720).
Columbia College is led by Zori Curry who currently sits seventh in the NAIA in blocks per game (1.320) while ranking eighth in the total blocks (70). In addition, Ariadne Borges ranks 10th in total blocks (67) and 13th in blocks per game (1.260) while Gabriela Walton ranks 33rd in total digs (263) and 42nd in digs per game (4.960).
The Cougars are back in action tomorrow, September 20th when they take on St. Louis College of Pharmacy (Mo.) in an AMC match. The game is set to start at 7 p.m. at the Southwell Athletic Complex.
