Columbia, Mo. – This afternoon the NAIA national office announced the fourth NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Top 25 Poll of the regular season. The Cougars, who ranked fifth in the last poll, moved up two spots to third after going 3-0 since the last poll was released.
The men's basketball team has been playing great all season long as they currently hold a record of 21-1 on the season and are riding a 12 game winning streak. They sit in first place in the AMC with a record of 13-1 in the conference and hold a 2.5 game lead over Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) University who is in second place. As a team, they rank fifth in the NAIA in assist/turnover ratio (1.453), seventh in turnover margin (4.182), seventh in 3-point field goal percentage (0.404), and eighth in scoring margin (18.682). In addition, they are averaging an AMC best 87.64 points per game.
The Cougars have been getting big contributions from all over the floor as they have six different players ranked in the top 25 nationally in five different statistical categories. Nic Reynolds currently sits fourth in the NAIA in free throw percentage (0.900), Adam Mennemeyer ranks fifth in the NAIA in 3-point field goal percentage (0.500), Nathan Biggs sits sixth in the NAIA in field goal percentage (0.618), Steven Holloway ranks 14th in the NAIA in assist/turnover ratio (3.000), Jackson Dubinski ranks 19th in the NAIA in free throw percentage (0.861), and Lucky Ogbomo ranks 25th in the NAIA in total rebounds (169).
Columbia College is back in action on Thursday, February 1st when they play host to the Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University Lions in an AMC matchup. The game is set to start at 7:30 p.m. in the Southwell Athletic Complex.
