Columbia, Mo. – The American Midwest Conference has announced the AMC Women's Basketball Player of the Week award for the week ending January 8th. For her efforts on the court this past week, Columbia College sophomore guard Jordan Alford was recognized for the first time in her career.
Alford, a 5-7 guard out of Thayer, Missouri, averaged 17.0 points, 2.7 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game while leading her team to a 3-0 week. She recorded her first double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) of the season against Park (Mo.) University and followed that up with a career-high 29 points, including the game winning free throw, to help lift the Cougars over 13th ranked Lyon (Ark.) College. She is averaging 9.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game on the season.
The Cougars are back in action on Saturday, January 13th when they travel to St. Louis, Missouri, to take on Missouri Baptist University in an AMC matchup. The game is set to start at 1 p.m.
