Columbia, Mo. – The fourth ranked Columbia College volleyball team took the court today as they traveled to Fayette, Missouri for two matches. They took on the Peru State (Neb.) College Bobcats, followed by the 21
st ranked Central Methodist University Eagles. Columbia defeated the Bobcats in three sets (25-11, 25-16 and 25-11) and then won in four sets over the Eagles (25-21, 25-22, 23-25 and 25-21). The Cougars now improve to 30-3 on the season.
In the first match against the Bobcats, the Cougars dominated from the first serve, hitting .523 for the match compared to just .143 by their opponents.
Pamela Jaime led Columbia with 17 kills while
Caroline Clifford added 12.
Manuela Vargas dished out 41 assists and
Thais Andrade posted 11 digs.
Against the 21
st ranked Eagles, Columbia was challenged and struggled to find separation between their opponent. Columbia and Central Methodist logged an identical 54 kills in the match with the Cougars taking control on the defensive end with 15 blocks compared to just six by the Eagles.

Kiersten Anderson and
Ariadne Borges combined for 33 kills in the match. Vargas led all players with 43 assists and Andrade finished with 21 digs.
The volleyball team is back in action on Thursday, October 25
th, when they host the Hannibal-LaGrange University Trojans in an AMC contest. This game will also serve as Senior Day for the Cougars. The match is set to start at 7 p.m. in Southwell Complex.
