Cougars Stay Unbeaten in AMC

Columbia, Mo. – Tonight the Columbia College men's soccer team was back in action when they traveled to St. Louis, Missouri, to take on the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Eutectics in an AMC matchup. The Cougars were able to defeat the Eutectics by a final score of 9-0 to improve to 11-4-1 on the season and 10-0 in conference play.

It did not take long for Columbia College to get on the board in this one as Adam Du Toit finished off his fifth of the season just four minutes into the game to make the score 1-0. Ximo Gil added his fourth goal of the season just a minute later and the Cougars held a 2-0 lead five minutes into the contest. Columbia College continued to push the tempo and were able to score two more times in the half including a goal from Parker Moon (7) and a tally from Logan Mangrum (1) and the score was 4-0 heading into the halftime break. The Cougars outshot the Eutectics 15-1 in the period.

Columbia College came out in the second half and immediately forced the Eutectics keeper to make a save. They continued to apply the pressure and were able to score their fifth goal of the game with 27 minutes left to play when Brendan Mann knocked in his second goal of the season to give the Cougars a 5-0 lead. Columbia College was back at it again just three minutes later when Zion Hartzler finished off his first of the season and the Cougars led 6-0 midway through the half. The Cougars added three more goals in the game including a goal from Joey Koetting (7), a second tally from Adam Du Toit (6), and a goal from Anthony Sobolevsky (2) and Columbia cruised to their 10th conference win of the season.

Colin Baker (1-2) was in goal tonight for the Cougars making one save in his first solo shutout of the season.

The men's soccer team is back in action on Friday, October 26th when they play host to the 22nd ranked William Woods (Mo.) University Owls in the AMC Game of the Week. With a win or tie, the Cougars will clinch the AMC Regular Season Title as well as the top seed in the AMC Championships. This will serve as senior night for the Cougars and prior to the start of the game Columbia College will honor the seniors for their hard work and dedication to the program. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on R. Marvin Owen's Field.
