Cougars Win 10th Conference Game of the Season

St. Louis, Mo. – The Columbia College women's soccer team was back in action tonight when they traveled to St. Louis, Missouri, to take on St. Louis College of Pharmacy in an AMC matchup. The Cougars were able to defeat the Eutectics by a final score of 10-0 to improve to 12-4 on the season and 10-1 in conference play.

Columbia College came out in the first half and took it to the Eutectics from the start. They were able to score seven goals in the first 20 minutes of the game including three goals from Kelsey Mirts (11), three goals from Mallory Holzer (4), and a goal from Lucy Kingsley (7). The Cougars continued to apply a heavy amount of pressure but were not able to take advantage of their chances as the score remained 7-0 at the halftime break. Columbia College outshot the Eutectics 14-0 in the first half and had nine shots on target.

The Cougars came out in the second half and controlled the possession early as they put four shots on target in the first 10 minutes of the period. Columbia College was able to extend their lead to 8-0 with 25 minutes to play in the game when Maddie Ballard was able to finish off her second goal of the season. The Cougars were back at it again just 12 minutes later when Molly Burke was able to finish off a pass from Megan Floyd for her third goal of the season to extend the lead to 9-0. Columbia added one more goal on the night after Elisa Vega finished off her first of the season and the Cougars cruised to their 10th win in conference play.

Kate Marshall and Erin Jones split time in goal tonight as the two combined for the Cougars 11th shutout of the season.

The Cougars are back in action on Friday, October 26th when they play host to the William Woods (Mo.) University Owls in an AMC matchup. This will serve as senior night for the Cougars and prior to kickoff the seniors will be recognized for their hard work and dedication to the program while competing for Columbia College. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. at R. Marvin Owen's Field.
